|

- November, 2007 - a nice article by Jason Alba in his JibberJobber blog - Job-Hunt.org: a Website you can trust I hope so - I do try.
- February, 2007 - an interview with Eric Enge for SearchEngineWatch.com, Job-Hunt.org: an old-fashioned success story Nice thought!
- March, 2006: The newest recognition was received when US News & World Reports selected Job-Hunt as one of 18 "Top Sites for Finding Work" in the "Click Here for a New Career" article - one of 18! Wow! and, thanks to Margaret Dikel of the RileyGuide for mentioning Job-Hunt to Marty Nemko, author of the article. In the article, Marty described Job-Hunt as "The best site for those who have a career goal and now are trying to land a job." Thanks, Margaret! Thanks, Marty!
- April, 2005: We happily welcomed the Dow Jones owned "suite" of career-related sites (CareerJournal, CollegeJournal, StartupJournal, and RelocationJournal) as Job-Hunt's main sponsors. These sites are awesome sites, what you would expect from the company with the most famous brand in U.S. business news - The Wall Street Journal. CareerJournal and CollegeJournal have long been favorites, recipients of the famous Job-Hunt smilie [
] for many years.
- July, 2004:
We accidentally discovered that Job-Hunt has won another award
- PC Magazine has chosen Job-Hunt to be among the 1,000
or so sites which they feel are the "Best of the Internet" in the new book of that name. Cool!
- January,
2004: Job-Hunt started its 6th year as an asset/responsibility
of NETability, Inc. Traffic is higher than ever, which says as
much about the state of the economy as it does about Job-Hunt's
content and quality. Nearly 9,000 out-bound links are now provided
by Job-Hunt, and to say maintenance has become a Herculean task
is putting it mildly. We'll probably close in on 10,000 by 2005,
God willing. Still, there is a need, unfortunately, so we will
do our best in 2004. Probably time to throw everything into a
database, though...
- During 2003,
we continued to add new links, particularly in the States,
and also many new articles from the Online
Job Search Guide (Job-Hunt's free twice-a-month newsletter).
- During December,
2002, an updated and expanded Finding
Jobs Online article was published. We launched a modified
"new look" and gentle re-organization of Job-Hunt's
300 pages of content aimed at making Job-Hunt easier to use and
to maintain; also updated many of the states to add local networking
information and to respond to the Web site reorganization of our
major source of state job market data. A new start and new look
for 2003, hopefully a safe and prosperous year for all.
- July through
November, 2002, were a blur. The Networking Section was created,
combining the Associations and Societies
section with the Pick Your Employer
section for the Networking Resources section.
Over the summer, we've found several news items that seem too
useful and important to omit, so "Networking Resources" became
"Networking Resources and News."
A lot of time was devoted to research and writing articles (new
- Tapping the Hidden Job Market,
Using Web Job Sites; and revised
- Using Job-Hunt, Starting
Your Online Job Search, Choosing
a Job Site, and The Dirty
Dozen Online Job Search Mistakes - expanded from the original
6) and trying to keep over 7,000 links up to date, while adding
new resources as good ones appear.
- We've jump
started the month of June with the addition of the appropriate
state employment office added to each state's listings of local
Job and Career Search Resources (start with States
and then choose the appropriate state name to see your state's
resources listed).
- May, 2002,
was a very busy month! We initiated the process of adding
the associations listed in issues of the Online
Job Search Guide to the other job search resources in the
appropriate Job-Hunt categories as well as adding guidance on
using those association resources and a category for all the association
listings together:
- the 32
engineering associations from the March
14 issue were added to the Engineering job sites category
- the 36
medical and healthcare associations from the March
28 issue were added to the Medicine, Biotech, and Pharmaceutical
job sites category).
- a new
article, "Tapping the
Hidden Job Market," was added to the Getting Started
area to help leverage those association listings.
- a new
section, "Associations and
Societies," has been added to the Other Job Resources
category. It will contain all of the association listings
from the Job Hunting Guide newsletters,
by job search category (e.g. Engineering, Medicine, etc.).
- In April,
2002, we started adding the most recent editions of our e-mailed
newsletter, Online Job Search Guide,
to Job-Hunt so that non-subscribers can benefit, too. We also
expanded the criteria for Choosing a
Job Site from 6 to 14 and added a PDF downloadable file for
wider distribution.
- In March,
2002, Forbes Magazine selected Job-Hunt.Org as one
of the Best of the Web
for Job Hunting. What an honor! Thank you, Forbes!!!
- In January,
2002, we added the "Pick Your Employer"
section to make it easier for job searchers to find jobs on employer
Web sites and to research employers.
- In December,
2001, BIG NEWS: Job-Hunt is mentioned by Yahoo Internet
Life in it's December issue as one of the best online
resources for job seekers!
In addition, we've started the process of added links to the major
employers in each state, using our visitor statistics to guide
us on the order to implement these additions (e.g., California
is the most visited state page, so we started with California,
then Texas, Florida,
and Massachusetts). More to come
in the next months.
- In November,
2001, we continued the process of modifying the category listings
(as in August) with a clear emphasis on those sites which have
privacy policies and support protecting job seeker privacy. In
addition, in the state listings, we added links to information
recently published by the U.S. Federal Government regarding each
state's listings for the state's top employers, highest paying
(and lowest paying) jobs, fastest growing (and slowest growing)
jobs.
- In October,
2001, we expanded the special disaster-related listings for residents
of New York and New
Jersey. There's an amazing amount of information and support
available for the families of the victims of 9-11. The support
won't make up for the loss of a loved one, but it may help to
ease the burden a bit. God bless you all.
- In September,
2001, we joined the rest of the nation grieving for the victims
of the World Trade Center and Pentagon terrorist attacks. One
suspects that God has very little tolerance for murder done in
the name of religion. The listings for the state of New York had
some new special sites added to help residents cope with the events
of 9-11.
- In August,
2001, we began the process of re-evaluating our site selection
criteria and category design. The first category redesigned was
the Academia and Education section.
The others will follow.
- In July,
2001, we added a new advice section for people new to job hunting
online, called, Starting Your Online
Job Search. We also initiated our emailed newsletter Online
Job Search Guide to keep subscribers up to date on the
latest news from Job-Hunt, to answer questions, and more. In addition,
we have also initiated our Job-Hunt
Licensing Service for Website owners who want to add Web job
site listings and other Job-Hunt content to their own sites.
- In June,
2001, we added a 12-page section of information on creating the
Internet Resume and the "Cyber-Safe"
Resume, resumes for the 21st century.
- In May, 2001,
we added the section on Choosing a Job
Site. Particularly with all the layoffs announced this year,
it seems important to help novice on-line job seekers take advantage
of the Internet for finding their new jobs as soon as possible,
with the least amount of harm. When combined with Protecting
Your Privacy, also updated this month, we feel that we are
providing a complete picture.
- In January,
2001, the large Science, Engineering, and Medicine category was
broken into three: Science, Engineering,
and Medicine, Biotechnology, and Pharmaceutical.
- In October,
2000, added the Marketing and Sales
section containing Web sites focused on sales and marketing positions.
- In August,
2000, added the Protecting Your Privacy
section to help job seekers minimize the distribution of their
contact information while conducting their job search on-line.
- In July,
2000, added the "Listings By Location" section for Web sites which
focus on job listings and/or job-related resources for specific
countries, other than the U.S.,
and, within the U.S., listings and resources for specific states
or cities. In addition, Introduction
to Recruiting On the Internet was added to help recruiters
and employers understand how to approach this new, but extremely
important, medium for reaching job applicants.
- In May, 2000,
the section for Finance, Accounting, and
Banking was added to help people interested in positions in
those industries and/or professions.
- In April,
2000, the Internships and Summer Jobs
category was added to help students obtain summer employment,
and the Freelancing, Consulting, Contracting,
and Temping was also added to help meet the needs of the new
economy. In addition, a number of new medical sites were added
to Science, Engineering, and Medicine.
- Law
and Law Enforcement was added in March, 2000.
- Recruiting
On the Internet was added to the Employers section in February,
2000.
- Computers
and Technology was pulled out of the General
section in February, 2000, and supplemented by additional sites.
- How
to Use JOB-HUNT.ORG is was added in January, 2000. We added
it to help people leverage all of the content at JOB-HUNT.ORG.
We will continue to add this kind of visitor support.
- Hot
Site of the Week is a new section of JOB-HUNT.ORG, added in
October, 1999. Each Sunday a new site is added to the list. It
can be accessed directly from the home page or from the new section,
which collects all of the weekly selections and organizes them
chronologically from newest to oldest.
- In September,
1999, we added a section called "Employment
Super Sites" which covers the Internet employment "hubs" where
there are thousands of jobs and resumes and tons of information
for job seekers.
- In August,
1999, we added a new section for Job Fairs,
the "real" ones versus the "virtual" ones.
- Check out
the new HR Links section -- it is for recruiters
and the other HR professionals who visit Job-Hunt.Org, added in
August, 1999.
