Using Job-Hunt

Job-Hunt.org is your Guide to On-Line Career and Job Hunting Resources, carefully reviewed by our staff (of genuine, bone fide people, not software) and organized into categories. There are over 7,000 employers and career and job search resources listed in Job-Hunt. We are very selective in the sites included - we try to list only the best sites.

Sites do change after we add them, however. So, be cautious even using sites you find on Job-Hunt. Some of them may have been listed because they were the best available for that particular category or location, even though they might not be completely up to Job-Hunt's normal standards. Verify before you trust any site!

Job Hunters:
  • Using Job-Hunt to find a job - Job-Hunt is organized to help you find the right resources for your job search. Most people start with the state where they live (or want to live) selecting it from the list of states. In addition, each page of Job-Hunt contains links to the Employment Super Sites, the Specialty job sites (Academia and Teaching, Law and Law Enforcement, etc.), the Pick Your Employer section, the Associations and Societies, and the other resources listed in the narrow column on the left side of every page.

  • Starting your online job search - So many choices, so much information, you need a starting point and a strategy for your search.

  • Finding Jobs on the Web - Don't limit your search to the big Web job sites (that's where the competition is) -- you have many options, and one of the best places to look for a job is in the resources listed for your state.

  • Choosing a Job Site - 14 critical criteria for choosing a job site.

  • Using Web Job Sites - Many different services are provided by job sites, and some should be avoided

  • Tapping the Hidden Job Market - Job-Hunt has collected and organized the information for you, now this article provides you with some concrete advice on how to find those jobs that never get published.

  • The Dirty Dozen Online Job Search Mistakes - Learn from the mistakes of others.

  • Pick Your Employer - Check out employer Web sites to see the jobs they have posted and find company research sources.

  • Protecting your privacy - Keep your search for employment and your identity confidential so you can keep your job.

  • Developing your on-line resume - check out our Internet Resume section and read the advice from our resume writing pros.

  • Research employers, industry trends, associations, and/or find friends and co-workers from the past for some networking: Check out the listings in the Reference Material category, which is part of the Other Job Resources section of the home page.

  • Even more resources are available in Other Lists of Links, also in the Other Job Resources section of the home page.
Employers/Recruiters:
  • Picking an employment site to post your job opportunities or search for resumes.

  • Using and evaluating an employment site.

  • The Recruiting On the Internet category in the Employer Resources section offers links to resources, including "turn key" Web recruiting solutions, and training on this subject from many reputable consultants and companies.

  • The HR category in the Employer Resources section provides a listing of many on-line resources for employers, from benefits and eldercare resources to employment sites for Human Resource professionals.
If You Can't Find What You Want on Job-Hunt...
